The swing that sets the level

Backdraft measures the last completed swing — the leg the market has just travelled — and projects the Fibonacci retracement across it. The level it cares about sits deep in that range, at the 78.6% mark.

Crucially the swing is the PRIOR one, already finished. The level is fixed and waiting before price ever reaches it, so the entry is never drawn to fit the move that is happening right now.

Buying the discount, not the bottom

A retracement on its own is just a market falling. What turns it into a setup is the long-term average: price must still be above it, so the pullback is a pause inside an advance rather than the start of a reversal.

When price dips into the level and closes back out of it, the entry fires. The stop goes an ATR-multiple beyond, and the target is a fixed multiple of that risk — so the deeper discount buys a tighter stop and a better reward for the same idea.

The settings that matter

Fib Ratio is the real dial — how deep a discount you insist on before buying. Shallower fills more often and takes more of them; deeper waits for a better price and takes fewer. It was measured across the whole range, and the deep end is where this one works.

Swing Period sets how far back the anchor leg is measured, Trend Period is the long-term average that decides whether a dip is a pullback or a breakdown, and the ATR stop multiple and target R:R shape the risk on every trade.
