A different question

Almost every indicator asks where price is. Aroon asks something else entirely: how long has it been since the market last made a new high, and how long since the last new low?

That makes it a measure of a trend’s FRESHNESS rather than its size. A trend where new highs keep arriving is intact; one where the last high is fading into the past is running out of road — even if price has not fallen yet.

Riding an intact trend

When Aroon-Up holds high and leads Aroon-Down, new highs are still arriving. Add the requirement that price sits above its long-term average and you have a trend that is both fresh and established — that is where Tailwind buys.

It is built as a continuation rather than trading the Aroon crossover, because riding an intact trend and calling its turn are very different propositions.

The settings that matter

Aroon Strong is the conviction dial — how persistent the trend must be before it counts. The lookback period sets the window over which "recent" is judged.

Cooldown Bars spaces the entries so one long trend does not re-fire repeatedly, and the ATR stop multiple is what keeps the drawdown in hand while the cooldown keeps enough trades on the board.
